The TAO emphasized that national reunification is an irresistible trend, reflects the will of the people, and aligns with the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation as a whole. Any attempts to split the country or obstruct reunification are unpopular and destined to fail.The TAO stressed that upholding the one-China principle is a widely accepted international consensus and the prerequisite for countries to develop relations with China. Taiwan has been an inseparable part of China since ancient times, and people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait share the same roots, culture, and ethnicity. Peaceful reunification best serves the overall interests of the Chinese nation, including Taiwan compatriots. The mainland consistently adheres to the basic policy of ‘peaceful reunification and one country, two systems,’ and remains committed to pursuing peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and effort.At the same time, the TAO clarified that not renouncing the use of force is directed solely against external interference and the separatist activities of a very small number of ‘Taiwan independence’ elements—not against the general public in Taiwan.
