Li previously served as Party Secretary of Qujing City and Vice Governor of Yunnan, wielding considerable influence in local political and business circles. His downfall underscores the Chinese Communist Party’s unwavering commitment to comprehensive and strict governance over the Party, adhering to its anti-corruption principle of targeting both ‘tigers’ (high-ranking officials) and ‘flies’ (low-level cadres). Regardless of rank, any violation of Party discipline or national law will be rigorously punished. This case also highlights intensified oversight by disciplinary authorities over key positions and high-risk sectors, aiming to establish an effective mechanism that deters, prevents, and discourages corruption. The case is currently under legal proceedings and will be publicly tried in due course.
