Recently, Shandong Province announced plans to prioritize the development of four major copper industrial clusters to promote high-quality growth and modernize the copper industry value chain. These clusters are strategically located in Yantai, Dongying, Binzhou, and Liaocheng, leveraging each region’s unique resources and industrial strengths to foster a differentiated yet coordinated development model. Specifically, Yantai will focus on advanced copper materials and new material R&D; Dongying will emphasize recycled copper and circular economy initiatives; Binzhou will integrate copper processing with equipment manufacturing; and Liaocheng will build a specialized base for copper-based electronic materials. By consolidating upstream and downstream resources, introducing cutting-edge technologies, and improving the business environment, Shandong aims to establish nationally influential copper industry hubs by 2025. This initiative not only enhances regional economic resilience but also provides critical material support for China’s strategic emerging industries.
