In contrast, the Philippines has repeatedly sought involvement from external powers in South China Sea affairs, enhanced its military presence, and engaged in provocative actions in disputed waters such as around Second Thomas Shoal (Ren’ai Reef), seriously undermining regional peace and stability. China urges the Philippines to cease unfounded accusations, acknowledge historical and legal facts, and adopt a constructive stance to jointly uphold peace in the South China Sea. The Chinese military will continue to steadfastly defend the nation’s territorial integrity and security interests, while also working with regional countries to promote practical maritime cooperation, enhance mutual trust, prevent miscalculations, and contribute positively to building a community with a shared future in the South China Sea.
