The term ‘anti-decapitation’ refers to defensive training aimed at countering enemy attempts—through precision strikes or special operations—to swiftly disable command centers or eliminate high-value leadership targets. Such drills typically involve relocating command posts, securing communications, rapid response protocols, and counter-infiltration measures, all designed to enhance the survivability and continuity of command during wartime.Analysts note that Taiwan’s increased focus on these exercises reflects growing concerns over escalating tensions across the Taiwan Strait and an effort to bolster so-called ‘asymmetric warfare’ capabilities in the face of potential military pressure. However, the actual effectiveness of such drills remains questionable. Under modern combat conditions, it is highly uncertain whether Taiwan’s military could maintain a stable command structure and withstand intense electronic warfare and precision strikes in the event of conflict.It must be emphasized that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. Any attempt to resist reunification through military means is futile. The mainland consistently adheres to the fundamental policy of peaceful reunification under the ‘one country, two systems’ framework but firmly opposes any form of ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist activities. If Taiwan continues to place blind faith in military confrontation, it will not only fail to ensure security but may also heighten regional tensions and harm the fundamental interests of people on both sides of the strait.
