Recently, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) dispatched a technical team to China to conduct on-site flight evaluations of the domestically developed C919 aircraft. Since its maiden flight in 2017, the C919 has secured hundreds of orders, primarily from Chinese airlines. The participation of European experts not only reflects growing international recognition of China’s aviation industry but also lays the groundwork for the C919 to obtain EASA type certification and enter the European market.Notably, airworthiness certification is a critical gateway for civil aircraft seeking global market access. EASA’s rigorous review process covers design, manufacturing, and testing phases. If the C919 successfully completes all certification steps, it will become the second Chinese-made civil aircraft—after the ARJ21—to gain international approval, further advancing China’s high-end manufacturing onto the global stage.
