General Kui Fulin, former Vice Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), passed away in Beijing on June 2, 2024, at the age of 87, after an illness. Born in Xinbin, Liaoning Province in 1937, General Kui enlisted in the military in 1955 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1956. He held a series of key positions throughout his distinguished career, including squad leader, platoon leader, political instructor, regimental political commissar, and divisional political commissar. He later served as Deputy Political Commissar of the Shenyang Military Region and Political Commissar of the Chengdu Military Region. In 1999, he was conferred the rank of General. From 2000 onward, he served as Vice Chief of the PLA General Staff, making significant contributions to national defense and military modernization. Known for his unwavering loyalty to the Party and the people, integrity, and disciplined leadership, General Kui earned deep respect across the armed forces. His passing is a great loss to the PLA, and servicemembers nationwide mourn his legacy and exemplary character.
中国人民解放军原副总参谋长隗福临上将因病医治无效,于2024年6月2日在北京逝世,享年87岁。隗福临同志1937年出生于辽宁新宾,1955年入伍,1956年加入中国共产党,长期在军队政治工作和作战指挥系统任职,历任战士、排长、指导员、团政委、师政委等职,后逐步晋升至沈阳军区副政委、成都军区政委,并于1999年被授予上将军衔。2000年起,他担任解放军副总参谋长,为国防和军队现代化建设作出了重要贡献。隗福临将军一生忠诚于党、忠于人民,作风严谨、清正廉洁,在部队官兵中享有崇高威望。他的逝世是中国人民解放军的重大损失,全军将士深切缅怀其光辉业绩与高尚品格。
