Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to promoting Go culture, nurturing generations of top players, and served for many years as Vice Chairman of the Chinese Weiqi Association. His passing is regarded as an irreplaceable loss to the Chinese Go community.At the ceremony, prominent figures from the Go world delivered eulogies, praising him for ’embodying wisdom through Go and virtue through character.’ Many young players expressed that Nie’s legacy would continue to inspire them. Though the snow was cold, the hearts of mourners were warm—a poignant tribute not only to a great player but also to an entire era.
