The term ‘Thirteen Grand Protectors’ is not a historical reference but an affectionate online nickname for Jiangsu’s 13 prefecture-level cities—Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou, Taizhou, Nantong, Yancheng, Huai’an, Suqian, Lianyungang, and Xuzhou—known for their strong economies and close regional collaboration.
