Recently, China’s National Meteorological Center has simultaneously issued warnings for heavy snow, cold wave, and freezing conditions, drawing widespread public attention. This weather event is characterized by its extensive coverage, high intensity, and prolonged duration. Strong snowfall, sharp temperature drops, and icy road conditions are expected across multiple provinces in central and eastern China. The heavy snow warning indicates that some areas may receive over 10 millimeters of snowfall within 24 hours, with snow accumulation exceeding 10 centimeters. The cold wave alert forecasts temperature plunges of 8°C to 12°C in many regions, with localized drops exceeding 16°C, accompanied by strong winds. Meanwhile, the freezing warning highlights that the combination of low temperatures and precipitation will lead to severe icing on bridges, roads, and power lines, significantly impacting transportation, electricity supply, agriculture, and daily life. Authorities urge the public to stay warm, limit non-essential travel, and exercise extreme caution while driving due to slippery roads and reduced visibility. Emergency response mechanisms have been activated to enhance snow and ice removal, ensure energy supply, and safeguard essential public services amid this extreme weather event.
