In 2024, Central South University (CSU) officially launched its Artificial Intelligence Industrial Base within the CSU Science Park, marking a significant step toward deepening the integration of AI-related industry, academia, and research. Located in the Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, the base leverages CSU’s strengths in computer science, automation, materials science, and other disciplines to focus on core AI technology R&D, commercialization of research outcomes, and startup incubation. Spanning over 50,000 square meters, the facility has already attracted more than 30 high-growth tech companies specializing in areas such as AI-powered healthcare, intelligent manufacturing, and smart transportation. It has also established strategic partnerships with leading tech firms including Huawei, Tencent, and Baidu. Additionally, the base will host an open AI innovation platform offering computing resources, data access, and policy guidance to support early-stage startups, fostering a regional AI innovation ecosystem. This initiative not only enhances the university’s capacity to serve local economic development but also provides strong momentum for Hunan Province’s efforts to build a national pilot zone for next-generation AI innovation and development.
