A stroke caused by a blockage in blood flow to the brain—known as an ischemic stroke or ‘brain infarction’—is a medical emergency. Remember, the golden window for effective stroke treatment is within 4.5 hours of symptom onset; the sooner treatment begins, the better the chance of recovery.
