中国已启动第二阶段6G技术试验

China has recently launched the second phase of its 6G technology trials, marking a critical step forward in the development of next-generation communication technologies. Led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), this phase involves collaboration among universities, research institutes, and telecommunications companies, with a focus on cutting-edge areas such as terahertz communications, intelligent metasurfaces, and integrated space-air-ground networks. Compared to 5G, 6G is expected to deliver significantly higher data rates (theoretical peak up to 1 Tbps), ultra-low latency (below 0.1 milliseconds), and vastly increased connection density—enabling transformative applications like holographic communications, digital twins, immersive extended reality (XR), and autonomous driving. This second-phase trial aims not only to validate core technologies but also to explore 6G network architecture, spectrum allocation strategies, and standardization pathways, laying the groundwork for commercial deployment around 2030. China’s initiative underscores its ambition to lead global 6G innovation, strengthen self-reliance in the tech supply chain, and drive high-quality growth in the digital economy.
