In June 2024, Guangzhou-based Yuejin Semiconductor officially announced the launch of its Phase IV project. As a locally rooted wafer foundry strongly supported by Guangdong Province, Yuejin has successfully completed three prior phases since its founding in 2017, establishing mature process capabilities ranging from 150nm to 55nm. Its chips serve key markets including automotive electronics, industrial control, IoT, and consumer electronics. The Phase IV expansion will focus on advanced specialty process technologies, aiming to add 40,000 wafers per month (12-inch equivalent) in new capacity. It will prioritize high-growth segments such as power devices, analog ICs, and high-end sensors. With an estimated total investment exceeding RMB 10 billion, the project is expected to significantly strengthen the Greater Bay Area’s self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing and catalyze integrated development across the upstream and downstream supply chain. The launch of Phase IV marks a major milestone in China’s domestic wafer fabrication capabilities and underscores the nation’s commitment to high-quality growth in the integrated circuit industry.
