Disruptions in the supply chain for high-end transformers could indeed delay the deployment of new AI data centers. However, the global transformer industry remains diversified, with companies from Europe, the U.S., and Japan also actively expanding their capabilities. A more accurate assessment would be that China’s strength in high-end transformers positions it as a key player—not a chokehold—in global AI infrastructure development. As AI energy demands continue to rise, ensuring resilient, self-reliant, and internationally collaborative power equipment supply chains will become increasingly vital.
