Recently, members of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) stated during the annual Two Sessions that ‘AI + Education’ has entered a critical development phase. As artificial intelligence rapidly advances, its role in education is shifting from a supplementary tool to deep integration. The committee emphasized the need to accelerate the construction of a student-centered, data-driven intelligent education system that enables personalized learning, precise teaching, and greater educational equity. At the same time, they stressed the importance of establishing ethical guidelines for AI to mitigate risks such as algorithmic bias and data privacy breaches. Enhancing teachers’ digital literacy and fostering human-AI collaboration in education—rather than allowing technology to replace the essence of teaching—was also highlighted. The members recommended that the government increase policy support and resource investment, encourage school-enterprise partnerships, and develop exemplary ‘AI + Education’ use cases to create a ‘Beijing model’ for national digital transformation in education. In the future, AI should not merely serve as a teaching tool but act as an educational partner that inspires creativity and cultivates higher-order thinking skills.
