In November 2023, Yin Jianye, former Vice Chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was removed from his post and placed under investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Supervisory Commission for suspected serious violations of discipline and law. Yin had a long career in Jiangxi’s political and legal affairs system, having served as Secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee’s Political and Legal Affairs Commission, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, and later as CPPCC Vice Chairman. His investigation underscores the Chinese Communist Party’s unwavering commitment to combating corruption at all levels—commonly described as ‘taking down tigers and swatting flies.’ As a senior local official, Yin was expected to uphold party discipline and state laws with integrity; however, his alleged misconduct has damaged the credibility of the Party and government and betrayed public trust. The case is currently under legal and procedural review, and appropriate actions will follow based on the findings. This incident reaffirms that no individual, regardless of rank, is above the law or party discipline, highlighting the firm resolve and institutional rigor of the Party’s comprehensive governance over itself.
