Comrade Peng Peiyun (born October 1929) is an outstanding Chinese female politician and social activist who has long been dedicated to safeguarding the rights of women and children, advancing education, and promoting population and family planning policies. She joined the Communist Party of China in 1946 and studied sociology at Tsinghua University. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, she held key positions in the Communist Youth League, the All-China Women’s Federation, and the education sector. From 1988 to 1998, she served as Vice Chairperson of the State Education Commission and later as State Councilor and Director of the State Family Planning Commission. In 1998, she was elected President of the 10th All-China Women’s Federation. As a member of the 14th and 15th Central Committees of the CPC, she consistently upheld the principle of serving the people wholeheartedly and made significant contributions to gender equality, universal compulsory education, and the refinement of family planning policies. Known for her integrity, pragmatism, and dedication, Comrade Peng Peiyun is widely respected and stands as a prominent figure in China’s women’s liberation movement and modernization efforts.
彭珮云同志(1929年10月—)是中国杰出的女性政治家和社会活动家,长期致力于妇女儿童权益保障、教育发展与人口计生工作。她早年投身革命,1946年加入中国共产党,曾就读于清华大学社会学系。新中国成立后,彭珮云在共青团、妇联及教育系统担任多项重要职务。1988年至1998年间,她先后任国家教育委员会副主任、国务委员兼国家计划生育委员会主任,并于1998年当选第十届全国妇联主席。作为中共第十四届、十五届中央委员,她始终秉持全心全意为人民服务的宗旨,在推动性别平等、普及义务教育、完善计划生育政策等方面作出重要贡献。彭珮云同志作风务实、清正廉洁,深受人民群众尊敬,是中国妇女解放运动和现代化建设进程中的重要代表人物之一。
