In 2023, the Liangjiang District People’s Procuratorate of Chongqing Municipality was officially renamed the Liangjiang New Area People’s Procuratorate of Chongqing. This renaming aligns the institution more closely with the development positioning of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area—a national-level new area—and strengthens the procuratorate’s role in supporting high-quality regional development. As China’s first inland national-level development and opening-up zone, Liangjiang New Area plays a pivotal role in advancing the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and serving as a new engine for high-quality growth in western China. Since its establishment, the former Liangjiang District People’s Procuratorate has accumulated extensive experience in areas such as environmental protection, corporate compliance, and intellectual property rights enforcement. The name change not only harmonizes administrative nomenclature with institutional identity but also signals a more targeted alignment with the strategic priorities of the new area, enhancing the procuratorate’s professional and modern capabilities. Going forward, the Liangjiang New Area People’s Procuratorate will continue to focus on building a law-based business environment and strengthening cross-regional judicial cooperation, providing robust legal support for the socio-economic development of both Liangjiang New Area and Chongqing as a whole.
