The so-called ‘AI-watermarked textbooks’ are actually pirated copies produced by bad actors using AI tools to mimic official editions, embedding model-specific watermarks while seeking illicit profits at low cost.The editorial departments urge students, teachers, and parents to purchase textbooks exclusively through official channels—such as Xinhua Bookstore, school-designated suppliers, or authorized online platforms—to avoid counterfeit products. Pirated textbooks often contain errors, poor formatting, and misleading information that can negatively impact learning. Relevant authorities have already launched investigations and will take legal action against piracy to uphold market integrity and protect students’ rights.
