Recently, the Yantai Housing Provident Fund Management Center announced that, effective January 1, 2025, interest rates on existing housing provident fund loans will be lowered. This adjustment primarily targets outstanding provident fund loans already issued but not yet repaid, aiming to further ease borrowers’ repayment burdens and support both first-time and improved housing demand.According to the official notice, the interest rate for first-home provident fund loans will decrease from the current 3.1% to 3.0%, while the rate for second-home loans will drop from 3.575% to 3.475%. The rate cut is expected to benefit hundreds of thousands of households in Yantai, saving them an average of dozens to over one hundred RMB per month in interest payments. It should be noted that this adjustment applies only to existing loans; newly issued provident fund loans will continue to follow current policies. For loans with floating interest rates, the system will automatically update the rate on January 1, 2025, without requiring borrowers to submit additional applications. Fixed-rate loans will not be affected by this change.Experts view this rate reduction as a key measure to implement national policies aimed at optimizing provident fund usage and promoting stable and healthy development of the real estate market, thereby boosting public confidence in home purchases and stabilizing market expectations.
