In June 2024, Xie Sheng, former member of the Standing Committee of the Changde Municipal Party Committee and former Executive Vice Mayor of Changde City in Hunan Province, was expelled from both the Chinese Communist Party and public office (commonly referred to as ‘double expulsion’) due to serious violations of discipline and law. An investigation found that Xie had abandoned his ideals and original mission, breached the CPC Central Committee’s Eight-point Regulation on improving conduct, and accepted gifts and cash that could influence the impartial execution of official duties. He also abused his position to seek benefits for others in areas such as construction project contracting and project approvals, illegally accepting substantial bribes, thereby涉嫌 committing bribery offenses. His actions gravely violated Party discipline, constituted official misconduct, and涉嫌 criminal activity. Notably, he showed no sign of restraint even after the 18th National Congress of the CPC, demonstrating egregious behavior with severe negative impact. In accordance with the CCP Disciplinary Regulations and the PRC Supervision Law, and following approval by the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, the provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervisory Commission decided to expel him from the Party and remove him from public office, referring his suspected criminal case to procuratorial authorities for legal review and prosecution. This case once again underscores the Chinese leadership’s unwavering commitment to comprehensive and strict Party governance, sending a clear message that anti-corruption efforts recognize no禁区, cover all areas, and tolerate zero corruption.
2024年6月，湖南省常德市原市委常委、常务副市长谢胜因严重违纪违法被开除党籍和公职（即‘双开’）。经查，谢胜丧失理想信念，背弃初心使命，违反中央八项规定精神，收受可能影响公正执行公务的礼品礼金；利用职务便利为他人在工程承揽、项目审批等方面谋取利益，并非法收受巨额财物，涉嫌受贿犯罪。其行为严重违反党的纪律，构成职务违法并涉嫌犯罪，且在党的十八大后不收敛、不收手，性质恶劣，影响严重。依据《中国共产党纪律处分条例》《中华人民共和国监察法》等有关规定，经湖南省纪委监委研究并报省委批准，决定给予谢胜开除党籍、开除公职处分，将其涉嫌犯罪问题移送检察机关依法审查起诉。此案再次彰显了党中央坚定不移推进全面从严治党的决心，释放出反腐败无禁区、全覆盖、零容忍的强烈信号。
