Recently, Central Asia’s first waste-to-energy incineration plant officially commenced operations in Kazakhstan, marking a significant step forward in municipal solid waste management and renewable energy utilization for the region. Located on the outskirts of Almaty, the facility can process up to 1,200 tons of household waste per day and generate approximately 300 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually—enough to power around 150,000 households.
