Recently, BaaS (Battery as a Service) provider Weineng Battery Asset Co., Ltd. officially registered a new company in Meishan, Sichuan Province—Meishan Weineng New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. This move marks Weineng’s further expansion of its battery asset operations and battery-swap services in Southwest China. The new company has a registered capital of RMB 100 million and will engage in businesses including battery leasing for new energy vehicles (NEVs), battery recycling, second-life applications, and the construction and operation of battery swap stations.As a key component of NIO’s ecosystem, Weineng focuses on building a battery asset management platform under the ‘battery-as-a-service’ (BaaS) model. Its decision to establish operations in Meishan reflects both the region’s strong industrial foundation and supportive policies, as well as strategic positioning within the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. Located in the core area of the Chengdu metropolitan region, Meishan offers convenient transportation and abundant resources, making it an ideal location for developing a new energy vehicle supply chain.Industry analysts believe this move will not only accelerate the development of NEV infrastructure in Sichuan and the broader Southwest region but also stimulate local growth in battery recycling and the circular economy, contributing to China’s green and low-carbon transition goals.
