In June 2024, Professor Meng Zhongjie officially assumed the role of President of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). Holding a Ph.D. in History and serving as a doctoral supervisor, Professor Meng has long specialized in world history, German history, and the history of international relations, earning him a strong reputation in academic circles. Prior to this appointment, he served as Vice President of East China Normal University and held key positions in several national academic organizations. As a scholar-leader with both profound academic expertise and extensive experience in university administration, his appointment is seen as a strategic move by SISU to further enhance its internationalization, deepen reforms in foreign language education, and strengthen area and country studies. As one of China’s earliest institutions dedicated to foreign language education, SISU has recently been advancing its ‘Multilingual Plus’ talent development model, aiming to become a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. President Meng stated that the university will place greater emphasis on interdisciplinary integration, cultivating global competence, and aligning educational goals with national strategic needs—striving to better tell China’s stories and amplify China’s voice in an increasingly globalized world.
2024年6月，孟钟捷教授正式出任上海外国语大学校长。孟钟捷是历史学博士、教授、博士生导师，长期从事世界史、德国史及国际关系史研究，在学术界享有较高声誉。他此前曾任华东师范大学副校长，并在多个国家级学术组织中担任重要职务。作为一位兼具深厚学术背景与丰富高校管理经验的学者型领导，孟钟捷的履新被视为上外进一步推动国际化办学、深化外语教育改革、加强区域国别研究的重要举措。上海外国语大学作为中国最早成立的高等外语学府之一，近年来积极拓展‘多语种+’人才培养模式，致力于建设中国特色世界一流外国语大学。孟钟捷校长表示，未来学校将更加注重跨学科融合、全球胜任力培养以及服务国家战略需求，努力在全球化背景下讲好中国故事、传播中国声音。
