Amid today’s technological wave, the integration and reliance of the robotics industry on AI technologies are far deeper than commonly perceived—its value is significantly underestimated. Many still view robots as mere mechanical devices executing pre-programmed instructions, yet modern robots have long leveraged artificial intelligence to achieve perception, decision-making, and autonomous learning capabilities. For instance, in industrial settings, AI-powered collaborative robots (cobots) can not only recognize objects and avoid obstacles in real time but also continuously optimize workflows through reinforcement learning. In service applications, home assistant robots use natural language processing and emotion recognition to deliver more human-like interactions. Moreover, AI enables swarm intelligence—multiple robots can coordinate to accomplish complex tasks, such as automated sorting systems in warehouse logistics. However, because AI often operates invisibly as an underlying technology, its pivotal role in enhancing robotic performance is frequently overlooked. In reality, without advanced AI algorithms, robots would struggle to operate effectively in dynamic, unstructured real-world environments. Therefore, re-evaluating AI’s central role in the robotics industry is essential—not only to drive technological innovation but also to accelerate the sector’s intelligent transformation.
