The exercise simulated a sudden fire in a high-rise residential building, with flames spreading rapidly and multiple residents trapped. Upon receiving the alarm, emergency teams from fire rescue, public security, medical services, power, and gas utilities swiftly assembled and launched a coordinated rescue operation based on pre-established emergency protocols. Key components of the drill included fire reconnaissance, evacuation of occupants, high-altitude rescues, interior firefighting, water supply logistics, and communication integration. By recreating realistic scenarios, the drill thoroughly evaluated the effectiveness of existing fire protection systems in high-rises and the coherence of the emergency response mechanism. A district official emphasized that as the number of high-rise buildings continues to rise, so do associated fire safety risks, making it essential to adhere to the principle of ‘prevention first, combining prevention with response’ and to conduct such drills regularly. This exercise not only strengthened the operational readiness of professional rescue teams but also raised community awareness of fire safety and improved residents’ self-rescue and mutual-aid skills.
