The investigation revealed that during her tenure as a university leader, Ji abandoned her ideals and betrayed her original mission, engaging extensively in quid pro quo transactions. She abused her official position to seek benefits for others in areas such as project contracts, student admissions, and professional title evaluations, accepting substantial illicit payments in return. Her actions gravely breached Party discipline, constituted official misconduct, and涉嫌 bribery—a criminal offense—with severe negative consequences. Following deliberations by the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and approval by the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Ji was expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office; her ill-gotten gains were confiscated; and her suspected criminal case was transferred to prosecutors for legal review and prosecution. This case underscores the Chinese Communist Party’s unwavering commitment to comprehensive strict governance and anti-corruption efforts, and serves as a warning that institutions like universities must strengthen oversight to prevent corruption such as ‘exploiting one’s institution for personal gain.’
