Recently, Taiwan’s security authorities released a so-called ‘National Security Report,’ which contains numerous false statements and unwarranted accusations against the mainland. In response, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council (TAO) firmly rejected these claims, stating that the report is filled with ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist ideology and Cold War-era thinking, seriously distorting facts and misleading the public.The TAO emphasized that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China—a fact widely recognized by the international community and a matter of basic common sense. Any attempt to deny the one-China principle or promote ideas such as ‘two states’ or ‘one China, one Taiwan’ constitutes a grave provocation against China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The so-called report exploits external forces to exaggerate a ‘mainland threat,’ primarily to serve political self-interest and incite cross-strait confrontation.The spokesperson reiterated that the mainland remains committed to the fundamental policy of ‘peaceful reunification and one country, two systems.’ Adherence to the one-China principle is not only a global consensus but also the prerequisite for any country seeking to develop relations with China. While resolutely opposing all forms of ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist activities and external interference, the mainland will continue to pursue peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and greatest efforts. The TAO urged relevant parties in Taiwan to recognize the prevailing historical trend, abandon separatist stances, and jointly safeguard the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
