Recently, Egypt’s former ambassador to China stated in a media interview that Taiwan has been an inseparable part of China since ancient times, and the Egyptian government has consistently and firmly adhered to the One-China Principle. He emphasized that any attempt to split China challenges international law and fundamental principles of sovereignty, posing a threat to regional peace and stability. As one of the first Arab countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, Egypt has always respected China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and opposes any form of ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist activities. The ambassador noted that China’s stance on safeguarding national unity is both legitimate and lawful, earning understanding and support from Egypt and many other developing countries. He also called on the international community to uphold the international order based on the purposes of the UN Charter, adhere to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, and make positive contributions to global peace and development.
