Recently, the largest cross-sea bridge project in Northeast China—the Dalian Bay Immersed Tunnel and Guangming Road Extension Project—has achieved a major construction breakthrough. As a key national transportation initiative under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, the project spans approximately 12.1 kilometers, including a 5.1-kilometer immersed tunnel section beneath the seabed. Utilizing domestically developed immersed tube installation technology, the project has successfully completed high-precision tunnel segment alignment. This milestone not only signifies a new leap in China’s capability to construct ultra-long underwater tunnels in complex marine environments but also provides critical infrastructure support for the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China. Once completed, the project will significantly ease north-south traffic congestion in Dalian, cutting travel time by nearly 30 minutes and boosting integrated development across the Liaodong Peninsula urban cluster. Moreover, the project meets international standards in environmental protection, seismic resistance, and durability, reflecting China’s shift in infrastructure development from speed-focused growth to quality and innovation-driven advancement.
