Recently, the photovoltaic (PV) industry has been hit by three major headwinds: first, the U.S. and Europe have imposed additional tariffs or launched anti-dumping investigations on Chinese PV products, significantly increasing export pressures; second, severe domestic overcapacity has driven continuous price declines in solar modules, sharply squeezing corporate profits; third, some local governments in China have slowed approvals for new renewable energy projects, causing installed capacity growth to fall short of expectations. These combined pressures have exacerbated an already intense price war across the PV supply chain. However, the industry is not without hope. The global energy transition remains an irreversible trend, ensuring long-term market potential for solar power. Moreover, rapid technological advancements—such as N-type cells and perovskite solar technologies—promise higher efficiency and lower costs, potentially accelerating industry consolidation and upgrading. Additionally, national authorities are considering supportive policies to guide the sector toward high-quality development.Short-term pain is inevitable, but companies with core technologies, strong cost control, and global footprints are well-positioned to emerge stronger from this crisis. The key to the PV industry’s resilience lies in shifting from a ‘scale-driven’ model to one focused on ‘quality and efficiency.’ If successful, the sector could enter a new phase of sustainable, high-quality growth.
