According to official reports, during his tenure in several key leadership roles in Nanjing, Long abused his power to seek benefits for others and illegally accepted substantial bribes, seriously violating Party discipline and national laws. The case is currently under legal proceedings.Long Xiang had a long career in Nanjing’s Party and government system, having served as Vice Mayor, Deputy Party Secretary, and later Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress. His investigation and prosecution reflect the Chinese Communist Party’s unwavering commitment to intensifying its anti-corruption campaign and its principle of holding both high-ranking (‘tigers’) and low-level (‘flies’) offenders accountable. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission have stressed that no matter one’s position, anyone who violates Party discipline or state law will face serious consequences.
