Recently, China Railway announced a new speed record on the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed rail line with the launch of the flagship train G25, which completes the journey in just 4 hours and 18 minutes. Departing from Beijing South Station and arriving directly at Shanghai Hongqiao Station, G25 makes only one intermediate stop at Nanjing South Station, significantly reducing travel time. The train operates using the advanced Fuxing intelligent EMU (Electric Multiple Unit), capable of reaching a top speed of 350 km/h. It features enhanced passenger comfort, including ergonomic seating, smart lighting, and wireless charging facilities. This latest speed improvement results from optimized track usage, upgraded signaling systems, and more efficient scheduling, reflecting China’s continued leadership in high-speed rail operations. As one of the busiest high-speed rail corridors in the country—serving over 600,000 passengers daily—the Beijing–Shanghai line benefits greatly from G25’s introduction, catering especially to business travelers and strengthening connectivity between the Jing-Jin-Ji and Yangtze River Delta economic regions.
