A spokesperson stated that the mainland has always adhered to the principle of ‘one China’ and the ‘1992 Consensus,’ upholding the notion that ‘people on both sides of the strait belong to one family.’ The mainland is willing to engage in dialogue and exchanges with Taiwan’s political parties, including the KMT, as long as they share this common political foundation to promote peaceful development of cross-strait relations.The TAO emphasized that the door to cross-strait exchanges remains open—but only on the premise of recognizing the one-China principle. It expressed support for any activities that enhance the well-being of people on both sides and foster peaceful cross-strait relations. The spokesperson also criticized the current Taiwan authorities, led by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), for implementing ‘de-sinicization’ policies and obstructing normal cross-strait interactions, which undermine regional stability—a stance the mainland firmly opposes.Analysts suggest that if the KMT leadership does proceed with such a visit, it could signal a potential revival of party-to-party communication across the strait, helping ease tensions and rebuild mutual trust. However, specific arrangements and outcomes still depend on further coordination between both sides.
