Exports amounted to RMB 5.7 trillion, an increase of 7.2%, while imports totaled RMB 4.5 trillion, rising by 4.1%. The foreign trade sector has started the year steadily, demonstrating strong resilience.The spokesperson attributed this growth to several factors: a mild global economic recovery boosting external demand; continued advantages from China’s high-quality manufacturing and robust industrial chains; and deepening trade cooperation with Belt and Road partner countries, particularly notable export gains to ASEAN, the Middle East, and Latin America. Additionally, emerging business models such as cross-border e-commerce and overseas warehouses have injected new momentum into foreign trade.Looking ahead, despite ongoing global uncertainties—including geopolitical tensions and rising protectionism—China’s supportive policies for stabilizing foreign trade remain effective, and business confidence is gradually recovering. The State Council Information Office emphasized that it will accelerate the implementation of supportive measures to stabilize trade volume, optimize structure, and enhance quality and efficiency, thereby providing solid support for achieving the nation’s socio-economic goals for 2025.
