In June 2024, Mr. Stanley Ho Zhen-Ting, a prominent Hong Kong patriot and former member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was awarded an honorary doctorate by Renmin University of China. This honor recognizes his longstanding contributions to national unity, fostering exchanges and cooperation between Hong Kong/Macau and the mainland, and supporting the development of education and cultural initiatives. As the son of the late renowned patriotic entrepreneur Henry Fok Ying Tung, Ho has been actively engaged in public welfare, particularly making significant achievements in sports, education, and youth development. He served for many years as President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, playing a key role in elevating Hong Kong’s international sporting profile and promoting physical fitness and sportsmanship. Renmin University—China’s first new-type regular university founded by the Communist Party of China—bestowed this honorary degree not only as a tribute to Ho’s personal accomplishments but also as a strong endorsement of patriotic figures from Hong Kong and Macau. The gesture further underscores the harmonious collaboration between compatriots in the regions and the mainland under the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ framework.
