Recently, China State Railway Group announced that 18 additional G-series high-speed trains will be added to the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed rail line to better meet passenger demand and enhance transport capacity. The new services primarily target peak travel periods and popular segments—such as between Beijing South and Shanghai Hongqiao, and Nanjing South to Jinan West—to effectively ease congestion during holidays and weekends.As one of China’s busiest high-speed rail corridors, the Beijing–Shanghai line connects the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region with the Yangtze River Delta economic zone. Spanning approximately 1,318 kilometers with a designed top speed of 350 km/h, it has carried over 1.4 billion passengers since its opening in 2011. This expansion not only optimizes the train schedule but also improves connectivity and convenience for cities along the route, supporting diverse travel needs including business, tourism, and family visits.According to railway authorities, the newly added trains will operate using CR400AF/BF “Fuxing” intelligent EMUs, offering enhanced safety, comfort, and smart features. Passengers can check real-time seat availability and purchase tickets via the official 12306 website or mobile app. Going forward, railway operators will continue adjusting capacity dynamically based on passenger flow to further elevate high-speed rail service quality.
