Batteries beyond reuse must be handed over to certified enterprises for material recovery or harmless disposal. Additionally, the rules emphasize building a traceability system, mandating that data across the entire chain—from production and sales to recycling—be recorded on a digital ledger to ensure transparency and accountability. This move not only helps alleviate resource scarcity and environmental pollution but also promotes the standardized and scaled development of the battery recycling industry, supporting China’s broader carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
