观致汽车工厂再次流拍

Recently, Qoros Auto’s vehicle manufacturing plant in Changshu, Jiangsu Province, failed to attract any bids for the second time on a judicial auction platform. The facility, appraised at approximately RMB 1.58 billion (about USD 220 million), had a starting price of RMB 1.26 billion, yet received no offers in two consecutive auctions, drawing significant industry attention. Once hailed as a pioneer in China’s premium domestic automotive branding, Qoros was originally a joint venture between Chery Automobile and an Israeli investment group. It was acquired by Baoneng Group in 2017, but sales have steadily declined since then, leaving the factory largely idle or operating at minimal capacity. This latest auction failure reflects market concerns over excess traditional internal combustion engine production capacity and a lack of investor confidence in Qoros’ future. Although Baoneng attempted to revive the brand through a shift toward new energy vehicles, efforts have been hampered by financial constraints, inconsistent strategy, and intensifying market competition. Industry experts note that, amid the rapid electrification and intelligent transformation of the automotive sector, underutilized manufacturing assets lacking core technologies and market competitiveness struggle to attract buyers. Without a swift acquisition or effective revitalization plan, the Qoros plant risks further asset depreciation or even demolition.
