Recently, the World Economic Forum (WEF) and McKinsey & Company jointly announced the addition of 23 new advanced manufacturing facilities to the Global Lighthouse Network. These factories span 10 countries and regions and operate across diverse sectors including electronics, automotive, consumer goods, and medical devices. The Global Lighthouse Network identifies and promotes manufacturing sites that demonstrate exceptional adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies—such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), digital twins, and big data analytics. The newly selected factories not only achieve significant gains in productivity and cost reduction but also set benchmarks in sustainability, workforce empowerment, and supply chain resilience. For instance, some factories have reduced equipment downtime by over 30% using AI-powered predictive maintenance, while others have accelerated time-to-market by optimizing product design cycles with digital twin technology. This year’s selection emphasizes a ‘people-centric’ approach to digital transformation, highlighting the synergy between technological innovation and human capital development. To date, the Global Lighthouse Network includes more than 150 facilities across over 50 countries and regions. These lighthouse factories not only drive their own operational excellence but also offer scalable, best-practice models for the global manufacturing industry’s intelligent and sustainable transformation.
