Recently, Zhengzhou Customs announced that a total of 531 enterprises in Henan Province have successfully registered their intellectual property (IP) rights with China Customs, effectively obtaining an ‘IP protection shield.’ This customs IP registration system, established by the General Administration of Customs, is a key mechanism designed to protect domestic brands and combat infringement in import and export activities. By registering, companies can input their legally owned trademarks, patents, copyrights, and other IP information into the customs database. If suspected infringing goods are detected at borders, customs authorities can proactively detain them, thereby safeguarding the legitimate rights of enterprises.The number of Henan-based companies securing such registrations has reached a record high, spanning key sectors including equipment manufacturing, food processing, new materials, and cross-border e-commerce. This reflects a growing awareness of IP protection among local businesses and their accelerating pace in global brand expansion. Zhengzhou Customs stated it will continue optimizing services and enhancing policy outreach to support more Henan enterprises in going global and boosting their international competitiveness.
