In April 2024, Tsinghua University held a memorial service to honor Professor Chen-Ning Yang, the world-renowned physicist, Nobel Laureate in Physics, and distinguished alumnus of the university. The ceremony took place at the Main Building of Tsinghua, attended by university leaders, faculty and student representatives, scholars from home and abroad, and Dr. Yang’s family and friends. Professor Yang passed away in 2023 at the age of 101. Throughout his life, he made groundbreaking contributions to theoretical physics, particularly in particle physics and statistical mechanics, and remained deeply committed to advancing science and education in China. Since 2003, he resided at Tsinghua University, where he established the ‘Chen-Ning Yang Lecture Series’ and played a pivotal role in developing the Institute for Advanced Study, dedicating himself to nurturing young scientific talent. During the memorial, speakers shared personal recollections and praised his scholarly rigor, moral integrity, and enduring legacy. Tsinghua University affirmed its commitment to carrying forward Dr. Yang’s vision by strengthening fundamental research and cultivating future generations of scientists.
2024年4月，清华大学举行杨振宁先生追思会，深切缅怀这位享誉世界的物理学家、诺贝尔物理学奖得主和清华杰出校友。追思会在清华大学主楼举行，校方领导、师生代表、海内外学者及杨先生亲友齐聚一堂，共同追忆他卓越的学术成就、深厚的家国情怀以及对清华发展的深远影响。杨振宁先生于2023年逝世，享年101岁。他一生致力于理论物理研究，在粒子物理、统计力学等领域作出开创性贡献，并长期关心和支持中国科学教育事业。自2003年起，他定居清华，设立‘杨振宁讲座’，推动高等研究院建设，为培养青年人才倾注心力。追思会上，多位嘉宾回顾了与杨先生交往的点滴，高度评价其治学精神与人格魅力。清华大学表示，将继承杨先生遗志，继续推进基础科学研究和高层次人才培养，弘扬科学家精神。
