In June 2024, veteran Red Army soldier Hu Zhengxian passed away in Beijing at the age of 108 after failing to recover from illness. Born in Macheng, Hubei Province in 1916, Hu joined the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army in 1930 and the Communist Party of China in 1933. He was a participant in the Long March and an outstanding communications soldier during China’s revolutionary wars. Throughout his life, he remained steadfastly loyal to the Party and the people, serving through pivotal historical periods including the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the War of Resistance Against Japan, and the Chinese Civil War, making significant contributions to China’s liberation and national development. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Hu held key roles in military communications, notably as Director of the Third Department of the General Staff Headquarters, laying a solid foundation for the modernization and informatization of the Chinese military. Even after retirement, he remained deeply engaged in public education, sharing revolutionary stories and promoting red heritage. Hu Zhengxian’s life exemplified unwavering faith and lifelong dedication—a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
2024年6月，老红军胡正先同志因病医治无效，在北京逝世，享年108岁。胡正先1916年出生于湖北麻城，1930年参加中国工农红军，1933年加入中国共产党，是长征亲历者和革命战争年代的杰出通信兵。他一生忠诚于党和人民的事业，历经土地革命、抗日战争、解放战争等重大历史时期，为中国人民的解放事业和新中国建设作出了重要贡献。新中国成立后，胡正先长期在军队通信系统工作，曾任总参谋部三部部长，为我军信息化建设奠定了坚实基础。离休后，他仍积极关心国家发展，热心参与红色教育，讲述革命故事，传承红色基因。胡正先的一生，是坚定理想信念、矢志不渝奋斗的一生，他的精神风范将永远激励后人。
