Recently, a strong cold front brought heavy snowfall to northwestern Hubei Province, causing snow accumulation and icy conditions on certain sections of expressways, posing significant risks to road safety. In response, Hubei Communications Investment Group’s Northwest Hubei Expressway Operation Company swiftly activated its snow removal and traffic maintenance emergency plan. Multiple snow-clearing teams were deployed, equipped with specialized machinery such as de-icing salt spreaders and snow plows, to carry out round-the-clock snow removal operations on key routes including the Fuzhou–Yinchuan Expressway (G70) and the Hohhot–Beihai Expressway (G59).The operation adopted an integrated approach prioritizing mechanical clearing, supplemented by manual labor and strategic application of de-icing agents, with special focus on high-risk areas such as bridges, steep slopes, and sharp curves that are prone to icing. The company also enhanced coordination with meteorological and traffic police departments to monitor real-time weather and road conditions, promptly issuing travel advisories to help drivers choose safer routes. As of now, mainline expressways in the region remain largely passable, with no major accidents or prolonged congestion caused by snow accumulation.Hubei Communications Investment Group stated it will continue closely monitoring weather developments and dynamically adjust snow removal and traffic management measures to ensure safe and smooth expressway operations, especially during the busy Spring Festival travel season.
