In May 2024, the Emergency Management University was officially inaugurated, marking a significant step forward in China’s efforts to modernize its emergency management system and capabilities. Formed through the merger of North China Institute of Science and Technology and Institute of Disaster Prevention, the university is directly under the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People’s Republic of China, making it the nation’s first undergraduate institution named specifically for ’emergency management.’ The university focuses on core areas such as workplace safety, disaster prevention and mitigation, and emergency response, aiming to cultivate high-caliber, multidisciplinary professionals to meet national strategic needs. By integrating the educational strengths of its predecessor institutions, the new university will enhance research innovation and practical training, advance the development of emergency management as an academic discipline, and actively contribute to national emergency response mechanisms. This initiative not only fills a critical gap in China’s higher education landscape for emergency management but also provides vital support for strengthening societal resilience and capacity to respond to emergencies.
2024年5月，应急管理大学正式挂牌成立，标志着我国在应急管理体系和能力现代化建设方面迈出关键一步。该校由原华北科技学院和防灾科技学院合并组建，隶属于中华人民共和国应急管理部，是全国第一所以‘应急管理’命名的本科高校。学校聚焦安全生产、防灾减灾、应急救援等核心领域，致力于培养高素质复合型应急管理人才，服务国家重大战略需求。新成立的应急管理大学将整合两校优质教育资源，强化科研创新与实践教学，推动应急管理学科体系建设，并积极参与国家应急响应机制建设。此举不仅填补了我国在应急管理高等教育领域的空白，也为提升全社会风险防范和突发事件应对能力提供了重要支撑。
