China has firmly opposed such measures, stating they lack factual basis and violate principles of fair competition and market openness. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that excluding specific enterprises from 5G development is not grounded in technical or security assessments but driven by political motives, which not only harms the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies but also undermines the stability of global industrial and supply chains.China consistently maintains that 5G cybersecurity should be ensured through international standards, technical verification, and transparent cooperation—not through discriminatory actions. Chinese enterprises possess leading-edge technology and extensive experience in the 5G sector and have operated compliantly in numerous countries worldwide without any verified ‘security incidents.’ China urges the EU to uphold an open and inclusive stance and avoid politicizing economic, trade, and technological issues, thereby jointly safeguarding the multilateral trading system and promoting healthy development of the digital economy.Furthermore, China stresses that all countries should abide by World Trade Organization rules and honor contractual commitments when formulating relevant policies, refraining from misusing ‘national security’ as a pretext for protectionism. As key partners, China and the EU should enhance dialogue and cooperation based on mutual respect to foster a fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment.
