宁德时代发布轻商系列量产钠电池

Recently, CATL officially launched its mass-produced sodium-ion battery series tailored for light commercial vehicles (LCVs), marking a critical step in transitioning sodium-ion technology from lab-scale research to large-scale commercial application. Designed specifically for urban logistics vans, micro-buses, sanitation vehicles, and other LCVs, the new battery series offers high safety, wide operating temperature range, and cost advantages. Compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries use abundant and stable raw materials, avoiding scarce metals like cobalt and nickel—making them more aligned with sustainability goals and supply chain security. CATL states that the battery achieves an energy density of up to 160 Wh/kg at room temperature, supports fast charging, and retains over 90% of its capacity even at -20°C. This mass production not only addresses the gap in the medium-to-low range electric commercial vehicle market but also opens new possibilities for energy storage and two-wheeler applications. As the sodium-ion battery supply chain matures, it is poised to become a vital complement to lithium-ion technology, accelerating global electrification and carbon neutrality efforts.
