He fled overseas in 2014 during an investigation and was subsequently placed on Interpol’s Red Notice list as part of China’s ‘Top 100 Red Notice Fugitives.’ After years of coordinated efforts between Chinese anti-corruption authorities and law enforcement agencies in multiple countries, Hao was finally apprehended and returned through international fugitive-repatriation mechanisms. His return marks a significant achievement in China’s ongoing campaign against corruption and its international pursuit of fugitives and recovery of illicit assets. In recent years, operations such as ‘Sky Net’ and ‘Fox Hunt’ have led to the repatriation of thousands of fugitives from over 120 countries and regions, recovering tens of billions of yuan in stolen funds. Hao’s case sends a clear message globally: no matter where they flee, corrupt individuals will ultimately face justice.
