Recently, China’s Ministry of Veterans Affairs, in collaboration with multiple agencies, successfully identified the identities of seven martyrs who died during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950–1953). Using advanced techniques such as DNA matching, historical archive verification, and family information cross-referencing, authorities confirmed the names of these previously unidentified heroes whose remains were among those repatriated from South Korea under the joint remains recovery program. For decades, their identities were lost to time and the chaos of war. Now, thanks to scientific advancements and national dedication, they have finally been ‘brought home’ and honored by name. This breakthrough not only provides long-awaited closure for their families but also reflects China’s enduring respect for its fallen heroes. Approximately 197,000 Chinese People’s Volunteers gave their lives in the conflict. Over the years, China has consistently worked to recover, identify, and rebury their remains—many of which have been returned from South Korea and interred at the Shenyang Martyrs Cemetery for the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. The identification of these seven individuals represents the latest milestone in this ongoing national mission to ensure that every hero is remembered by name.
